    Lyrics:http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/streetlightmanifesto/wouldyoubeimpressed.html
    PART 1:
The song criticizes the way we are living an how we excuse ourselves thinking that it’s not our fault, it tries to make us conscious about the problems of the world and how we think the problem will be handled by others but it also concern us and that by doing nothing we are not less responsible of the consequences and accepting this it’s the first step to improve the world.

    PART 2:
The videos matches the lyrics because it show us people doing things we consider normal in the modern way of living and how this affects the natural flow of the world ,destroying it, then nature takes revenge or the consequences of our actions came back and makes us pay the toll.

    PART 3:
Is spinning down the drain: it means that it’s all going down or for the worst.
    Plead: arguing against a claim.
Like moths that fly into the flame: that goes directly into their demise.
Doomed: that does not have scape. Sentenced by destiny.
    Whimper: make a low whining.

    1. After listening to the song and watching its video, I think your appreciation is right but not at all. It is right to relate animals with nature but nature are also plants, oceans and lands, so I think that your opinion is good but could be a little more precise because although the videoclip shows the end of the world, it only does that with buildings and not with all the nature. What I understood is that we excuse ourserlves on behalf of our culture if food needs, entertainment and survival because whatever makes us feel more comfortable is going to be acceptable leaving aside that animals have rights and they can't just be murdered on the name of "humanity's comfortability". Even so, your point of view is totally acceptable and respectable. I just shared mine. Great song :D

    1. Thinking out loud- Ed Sheeran https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lp-EO5I60KA
    Lyrics: http://www.metrolyrics.com/thinking-out-loud-lyrics-ed-sheeran.html
The song talks about love, how he remembers her and how their love will stay alive through the time, because he found love right there with her, he is thinking out loud when she comes to his mind.

    2. The video is more metaphorical because they are telling their love story through their bodies while they’re dancing, everything is so delicate and perfect that you can see and feel what they mean to tell through it. The lyric is very clear, the song has the perfect rhythm for what the lyric says, it does have a direct relation and helps with the meaning and makes it more appealing.
    3. 3.1 Baby my heart could still fall as hard at 23: refers to the love he has for her, doesn’t matter how old he is, his heart could still feel the same way as when he was 23 or younger.
3.2 Maybe just the touch of a hand: refers that love can start with something as simple as a touch of a hand and they didn’t notice it.
3.3 Cause honey your soul can never grow old, its evergreen: it means that doesn’t matter how old she is, she will be the same in the inside, evergreen is a kind of tree or plant that lives more than others and they give seeds twice in their lives.
3.4 I’m thinking out loud: he is telling her all, he isn’t keeping his love and words to himself.
3.5 We found love right where we are: it can means that they fell in love next to each other without even noticed it.

    1. I think this video match perfectly with the song, even when the video doesn't show the literal story that the singer is telling, you can understand or interprate that the two dancers are involved in a romantic dance that shows what they're feeling without saying or doing anything else, just feeling each other in a slow dance, for me and for my classmate, the relation between the song and the video it's metaphorical but it shows very well what's happening and what are they feeling, the cultural references are the same, because the song it's about love and feelings and love it's always the same wherever the country is. Good analysis from my classmate and very right.

    2. I agree with you veronica, the video and the lyrics of the song match perfectly because both express that love is in the air. Ed Sheeran shows us in this song that love is not a passing feeling that depends on the appearance of a person, what they do for me or whether they meet a certain "standard" or not.
In fact, the force of love must be expressed in a form of lifelong commitment. A commitment that goes beyond the annoyances and pains that stop the passage of time, because love is above that.
"When my hair is almost gone and my memories fade" ... In the background is a song about discovering exactly this kind of relationship. A relationship that gives Ed the confidence to say, "We find just love where we are." Sheeran has described the song as "a song to walk towards the altar".

I think that the similarity between their culture and ours that is shown through the song is that no matter the ethnicity, customs, differences or defects in the people around the world; love always unite people and endures in those who know how to value.

    Coldplay – Paradise
    1. Video: https://youtu.be/1G4isv_Fylg
    Lyrics: http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/coldplay/paradise.html
1.1 I think the relation it’s direct, we can see an elephant who escaped from the zoo and he starts looking for ‘’happiness’’ the struggles that he lived, and things that takes him to his dreamed paradise that he finds at the end of the video, when he meets with his friends.
1.2 The song it´s about a girl who dreams about finding her paradise and how you feel about dreams when you’re young, and that completely change when you become an adult. At the end of the song despite everything even if it everything goes wrong, she’ll find her paradise (The paradise for her can be anything that she really wants). For that I think the relation it’s direct but represented in two stories and different characters.
The music it’s so special, it makes you feel some kind of euphoria, you get the feeling of comfort and relaxed and it matches with the tittle ‘’paradise’’.

    3. She expected the world: this symbolize when you have expectations about everything and you dream about achieving so many things.
She ran away in her sleep: She realizes that everything wasn’t like she expected in real life and she preferred to keep dreaming about her paradise.
The bullets catch in her teeth: This part references to an expression ‘’bite the bullet’’ which means when you decide to do something difficult that you’ve been hesitating. So, in the song, the girl tried to have control of their life and she faced the reality of the world.
The wheel breaks the butterfly: from my point of view, the wheel refers as the life, and the butterfly represent the childhood which turns into the stressful ‘’adulthood’’ with a lot of responsibilities and no time to dream.
Every tear a waterfall: another song from the band, also it refers when you’re young and you feel that even a little problem is the worst for you.

    1. After watching the video and listening to the lyrics, I can say that the connexion between the video and the song is metaphorical because the song talks about a girl and the video shows an elephant but it works well because it makes it more appealing and helps with the meaning of the song, the way you look at the song and the explanation you give to it, i think is very well and gives all the needed information for us to understand it without even watching the video for the first time, I couldn’t be more agree with you.

    ZOMBIE - The Cranberries
    1) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Ejga4kJUts - videoclip
    http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/cranberries/zombie.html - lyrics

    2) The videoclip of "ZOMBIE" shows the conflict that took place in northern ireland between the easter rising in 1916 and 1993. It is a way to protest against the terrorist actions done by the Ireland Republic Army (IRA) in Warrington, England in which two kids were killed in 1993. The video and the lyrics illustrate very well how kids become the most indefense and inocent victims of any war.

    3)
    1. To be slowly taken - the moment when someone is slowly dying or going to be near death.
    2. in your head they are fighting - these expression refers to the picture of the soldiers from IRA attacking civilians and killing inocent kids.
    3. heart is taking over - it means that once someone has died, his/her mother's heart goes out of control
    4. to be mistaken - to be wrong
    5. the same old theme - it refers to an old situation that's been repeating many times

5)I think "ZOMBIE" can represent in some way the violence situation that has taken decades in our country between the revolutionary ones and the government of conservadores/liberals. War is something that occurs worldwide but contrasting it to our country, children are always the most inocent and less-deserved victims. We've had hundreds of reports and cases of mutilated children and casualties just because of war when civilians have nothing to do with the power of who really rules. I listen to this song not only because it sounds great but also because the social message it has towards war is the one I'd like to spread around so that harmony could truly bring real peace in our society.

    1. Adward, this is a good pick. I have always liked this song, but did not know it represented the violence period of Ireland. I agree with you that children are most of the times the invisible victims any armed conflict.
One thing to correct, the spelling of the word inocent: it is innocent
      Good job!

    1. My Way - Sid Vicious Cover.
    Lyrics: https://play.google.com/music/preview/Txogftxggfykuwjkvwk4mz3dryq?lyrics=1&utm_source=google&utm_medium=search&utm_campaign=lyrics&pcampaignid=kp-lyrics

This song is about a man who has had a hard life, the man mentions the bad actions and desicions he has made through his life, but he emphasizes in the fact that all those things he has done has been done his way, and that's what really matters.

    2. I think the video matches with the song, because the video shows that irreverent part of Sid Vicious when he starts shooting people , it says that he actually doesn't care about what people could say, and that he only wants to do the things the way he wants, the things which make him happy.
    3. *Face (verb): To deal with something.
    *Queer (Offensive): Gay
*Have one's fill: To have as much of something as one desires.
*Subside: Become smaller or less prominent.
*Brat: A spoiled or ill-manered child.

Initially when I watched the video clip I thought it was a joke, because really this guy's voice is so far from the standards. But then after reading about the guy and his genre: punk and Sex Pistols I realized in Universe of Brit punk this could happen. My way is an iconic song from Sinatra buy I personally love Elvis Presley's performance three weeks before dying.

    1.VIDEOCLIP:https://youtu.be/AvJKVKglIRs
    -LIRICS:http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/nineinchnails/hurt.html
-This is a guy who feels stocked in a shitty kind of life, but he's getting used to be like that, he talks about how everybody's moving on and he will remain at the same place as the same bad guy.
2.Trent Raznor can't be more appealing with his lyrics, you can hear the blood running from his veins on this song.
    He's completely raw and explicit.
3.Empire of dirt: means that it's nothing but dirt.
-I will let you down: he's going to disappoint somebody.
-A million miles away: in another place, state, country, etc.
-The old familiar sting: bad family memories.
-Liar's chair: his throne as the biggest liar.
5-I didn't find a difference with the facts on the song and our feelings (in Colombia) with that kind of problems, there's depression and people feeling bad about themselves from all around the world, and they all share most of the same behavior.

    1. I agree with the way you had understood the topic of the song, plus you can add that he has dealt with tough things in his past and he thinks he wouldn’t recover from it and all he can do is hurt other people who tries to get close to him.
He is focused in how everybody moves on and he doesn`t or maybe doesn`t want to. It’s interesting that even though he is stuck in life he has become something that only he knows and understand. Finally after saying what's going on with him he shows a little bit of hope... He hopes to change his life sometime.

    1. Is about following your dreams and not being afraid of make them real, also how the world works and the way you can accomplish your achivements, also that material things are not always the best, that you don’t need vanity to feel full.

    2. The whole the world is mine concept, because everyone wants to rule the world in some sorts of way and that’s the main idea of the song make it appealing about how you can do what you want, what you love and go ahead and seize opportunities and it does’nt matter what others say or think, it’s just like FUCK IT!!

    1. David, I am not a fan of this type of music but wanted to see what it is about. For me these lyrics are about someone who is describing how he is drugged or the effects of drug. It starts with drug running through my veins, go to fly, no shame etc... basically he is high.... As usual lyrics are vague. He could also be referring to some kind of feeling that is like a drug, but well, I don´t know I am more for the being high interpretation. You don´t answer question number four in the assignment. How the lyrics relate to the video clip. I don´t think there is a direct relationship. The video is about a guy saying that the world is his because he can get all hot girls he runs into. So everything boils down to women submitting to him perhaps because he is handsome. In an very anticlimactic end he chooses the regular girl instead of the sensual women that have offered to him. Too superficial for my liking but you know what they say One man's meat is another man's poison.

    3. I think the song by itself doesn't say much, but with the video I could understand that it's about letting yourself indulge in pleasur with no restraint (drugs, money, girls, sex, etc.) and how some people with the power to get this stuff feel like they own the world, but at the end this kind of pleasure is not what makes you feel complete, because is doesn't last, the little pleasures of life and your ability to see their value and make them last it's what really matters, and I think that's what means the end of the video when the guy chose the regular girl.

      Hey,
It was nice to see that someone choose this song, it was my jam for a while and my wake up alarm´s song; I thought you were right when you said it was all about following our dreams but I think is so much more than that, it´s not about just doing what you want when you want it and how everything just works eventually, is about knowing who you are and working hard to get the confidence to pursuit your goals.
I can recall the song from the early 2000´s, and those guitars and electronic sounds always made me imagine out space scenarios, it was the perfect song for waking up, it makes you think of all the possibilities and opportunities you can have if you choose to believe in yourself and if you have the courage to do it your way, it also puts you in an introspective mood cause refers to how are we investing our time and if we like what we have built for ourselves, I know the video looks very superficial for portraying ironically a handsome guy who always wins and the lyrics mention some things about drugs, but if you can see through that you’ll watch a man who gets high on being alive and is always thankful for his accomplishments because he is working to be better.

I think the song by mention things like drugs in the lyrics and the effects of it, and showing sex in the video, reflects Colombian culture´s reality, because is a culture who worship everyone who use sex or drugs to succeed and after long years of narcotrafficking and violence several generations still use self-medication and choose an illegal kind of life as a way to fulfillment, that’s why I think is so cool that the main character even though is surround by all of this, he get his happy ending by taking risks and believing in himself.

    1 a) VIDEOCLIP--> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SaZm6IAfBc
    LYRICS --> https://lyrics.az/don-brownrigg/-/just-breaethe.html
    b) The song is about hard moments in life where someone is frustrated and feeling out astray and another person come into his/her life helping somehow and that makes him know everything is going to be alright.
    2. The video helps a lot to understand the situation because in this case is a series where many problems are happening in the life of most of the characters.
The kid who appears starting the video had a psychological problem and was supposed to be adopted but none wanted him so his mom pretended his death and give it to a crazy lady who spent some time with these kind of kids and then put them into a hole where there was carnivorous butterflies that ate the bodies of these children so like he escaped from that place he could help the investigators to find the other kids and save lives and meeting with his dad who didn’t know what his wife had done. These case helped agent Elizabeth keen to change her way of seeing her world.
    3.
*You came in like a wave: It’s comparing the way someone comes to your life like when the phenomenon came to the beach.
*Grin: It’s another way to say smile
*Out Stray: off the right path or route
*Aftermath: the period immediately following a usually ruinous event
    *Gulp: to swallow hurriedly
    5. I think the situation showed in the video clip and the song it’s very usual in the daily life in fact I noticed that instead of differ has a lot in common like when it talks about “November way” came to my mind that there`s also in Colombia something with the sadness and the month.

    1. In fact, I agree with your opinion about the main topic of the song and the video, you can see a sad and lonely guy, singing for somebody to rescue him, but he also refers to her-his arrive as a wave or a wave effect that comes in and goes out too fast.
The video was clear about his feelings (the guy on the video). He is a sad guy in a bar, exactly what you could do when you are bored as hell.
In my opinion, i will use that song to fix up my sleeping problems, but ... jajajaja I'm just kidding, it was a good song.

    Videoclip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HtNS1afUOnE
    Lyrics: http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/onerepublic/stopstare.html
I think the song is about the people whose life is a routine. This routine does not let them live and be the person they want to. Sometimes people get scared of leaving a complicated life and staring a new one, because they have been stuck in their past.

    Part 2.
In my opinion, the video matches the lyrics of the song because it starts with a guy who never changes his serious face and distant look, he looks fustrated and worried about life. He is not happy with his day-by-day living and he's afraid of future. It is like he has always been someone different to what he wants to be.

    Part 3.
    • Rust: things which are needless.
    • Counting up the years: reflecting on his life.
    • All my senses push: pushing him to move on.
    • Untie the weight bags: get to rid of the burdens.
    • Steady feet: Not giving up, stay firm.

I agree with your interpretation because I think that the song is about getting stuck, feel your life pass away and it become frustrating for the reason that you cannot do anything , you don’t know how did you end in that place and you are not what you want to be. The topic of the song is similar with Colombia and the rest of the world, it’s something what happens to many people around the world, they are not happy with their life, they are tired, they feel that their lives are insignificant and they don’t do anything for change it.

    1) Imagine. John Lennon
    VIDEO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DVg2EJvvlF8
    LYRICS: http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/johnlennon/imagine.html

    2) this song involves noiselessly many social facts that had happened and continuing passing, like: inequalities, racism, the superiority concept, and injustice. the competitions for religion, imaginaries, power. the exclusion of people for their physical characteristics or ideals.
besides the song says that while the people don’t change their minds, the peace is only a dream.
John Lennon shows us that if we imagine a world without borders, we will share with the people in peace and is an invitation for try of imagine the people living with other ideal “to see the world like as one” without discrimination. In the video there is a great example when we see a free symbol that is: the love between john Lennon, who is British and Yoko Ono, who is Japanese woman.

furthermore, ¿can you imagine yourself detached of all impositions?

    3) a)Imagine there's no Heaven, It's easy if you try No hell below us,Above us only sky
significy that you don’t need to know that there are sky and hell for to do good things, the life is here and now you can share and be happy with other people, in this present.

b)Imagine there's no countries… and no religions too
it want to say that we should let the impositions put on by the power because this only divides us.

c)Nothing to kill or die for
without selfish thought about religion, politics, social there’re not war, they're not hungry and dead.

d)Imagine no possessions, I wonder if you can, No need for greed or hunger
The individual must have a personal sense, which promotes his well-being, creating an increase of the auto-esteem, not materialist, not possessive.. .

e)You may say that I'm a dreamer, But I'm not the only one, I hope someday you'll join us, And the world will be as one.

the ideal of to live in peace don’t is only dream, if the people want to change, only depends of his decision.

    4) when this song was written during event that will marked the history like war and deads in Vietnam because some people lost the hop in the life, so other people want to change and fight for the victims of war, in this case John Lennon share in his songs a mentality of reconciliation and peace. maybe a reflection for all the time of suffering.
Maybe in Colombia there are violence and injustice but we have not suffered enough for made this type of reflexion, our country has problems between military conflict and government but the people here is unaware of this, the Colombian’s people prefer don’t know the problems of others and for that they don’t help neither.

    2. 4. I agree with your analysis, because this song is deep and brave trying to deal with things like injustice, racism, power and so on. And speaking of peace in the world we live in sounds like an utopia, that’s why he says “imagine”, like implying that is hard to think of world peace, but what if you dare to think of the possibilities? what if you dare to be a dreamer? Another powerful aspect that the song mentions is to live without possessions, like you said, to have personal sense without depending on how much money you have or how many things you own.
But, something that I disagree with the song, is that we don’t need to live as one entity, we don’t need to erase differents religions and borders. The ideal for me would be that given all our differences we could live in peace with others, be tolerant and accept other people with variations in their culture, ethnicity, beliefs and political views, that would be utopic. Because what makes the world a fun and interesting place is diversity. So, I think that if we learn to respect and understand individuality, we will move forward in achieving peace.

      5. This song applies to Colombia’s current reality. Last year, we had a plebiscite that asked for citizen’s participation, opinion and decision regarding peace dialogues. And as we saw in the results, people have differents opinions in a subject that many thought was unanimous. This lead to many discussions and reflections about war, peace, power, poverty, discrimination and education in our country, which for me is a positive result because we should listen to each other more, taking into account every point of view. Nevertheless, many of us still dream of peace, and we see it as a dream that is close to become real, it’s a beautiful feeling, but as the analysis says if people want to change that depends on taking a decision.

    Lyrics:https://play.google.com/music/preview/To4atkhskumx7fzaporlto2xoda?lyrics=1&utm_source=google&utm_medium=search&utm_campaign=lyrics&pcampaignid=kp-lyrics

This song is criticizing the image of beauty, that especially girls have, and how society is pressing them, growing up with that idea that they have to be perfect. Many people feel uncomfortable with their bodies, they want to change something. If you feel that something is not attractive you can call a professional and fix it. The wrong philosophy of “beauty is pain” is transmitted to young people. That kind of thoughts are creating an impossible model of beauty.
    Part 2.
The lyrics and the video match in everything because at the beginning of the video a girl appears watching on the TV a commercial, that shows if you want to be skinny you have to take a pills and use wigs to look great, then the girl feels bad, she is taking the pills, doing all the things they show on TV. Later it shows on TV the story of a woman that is in a relationship with a man. He suggests surgery to her. She thinks that she needs surgery to “feel and look good ". That shows that she doesn’t have confidence and it is carried by others. She doesn’t see the effect and bad decision made by the influence of someone else to fit into society.

    Part 3.
Ornaments: is an object or feature that is used for decoration.
Pins: a small, slender, pointed piece of metal
Leather: is the skin of an animal
pucker up : means to stick out your lips
suffocate: is when you start feeling that you don’t have oxygen
    Part 5.
What cultural aspect can you identify from the song that you consider differs from how we think or do something in Colombian culture?
I think that the cultural aspect that is reflected, is similar to the culture of the Colombian people because these thoughts about beauty, we can see them anywhere and in this country, it is not the exception.

As you said, this song is showing us how nowadays the people is foregrounding the physical appearance because the media give us a model, an standard of beauty and some girls/boys think they're not complete if they don't look like the "standard prototype" ... in the video the girl is having a plastic surgery 'cause her couple is paying for it and he also wanted her to look "better", everything ends up with the girl looking ruined and the man towards another girl's body. The song is really meaningful simulating an actual problem.

Putting this video on a Colombian background I think doesn't change it at all, actually this is a problem that comes out all over the world, either if you watch tv or check the social networks this kind of manipulation could affect you hurting people's self-esteem.

      4. I do agree with john, I think he got the point of what the whole video is about and how the 2005 album human after all changed the way us human see life and how the media is trying to change people in robots and just follow patterns, which is a conspiration of the government to make us do what they actually want us to do, and the concept of human after all is that eventually us human beings know we are being controlled and don’t care about it, also don’t worry to get out of that mental control zone.

      5. in the Colombian cultural we let the media in, in our lives and change us to the point to make us robots and make us slaves of it, for example the mobile phones or the use of internet, or the new tv stream media services that has everyone like a zombie worldwide, and also has created subcultures of people who follows all of this internet whole thing and can’t live without it.

    Radiohead - Just

    1. http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/radiohead/just.html

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_qMagfZtv8

The song is about self hating, which we commit when we punish ourselves hardly for the sins or mistakes that we had done in the past. Therefore, this song shows that nowadays there is a tendency to self-harm and low-self esteem.

In addition, it has a metaphor for guilt, describing it as trying to get dirt out of your body, but regardless of the effort, it remains, causing guilt and emptiness, experiencing feelings that you want to erase but cannot.
Also, when you are a paranoid, you fear that someone is chasing and trying to judge you, just two steps behind. However no one else judges you as hard as yourself, that’s why your conscience is so strong that it results on sabotaging your own life, even having suicidal thoughts.

That's why I think one of the messages of the song is that we must not give in on self pitying, self sabotaging, self harming and/or self loathing...it's important to overcome the obstacles that only exist in our mind.

Even so, you don't need to be a saint to keep living, just accept your flaws, accept your history and keep going on because there isn't a hunter outside doing a chasing, so stop, breath, and rethink.

Lastly, It think, it makes a call for people to start paying attention, because that bad attitude is not going to solve anything, no one is going to stop just to help others. That’s why if you keep navigating that road of self destruction, it will absorb you to the core. Just take into account that nobody's perfect, you are still valuable, even if you committed some mistakes, so stop being so hard on yourself.

    2. Video:
The video is complementary to the song. Its narrative follows a man that suddenly lays in the middle of the street. And everybody starts wondering why would he do that. It raises a question: what can be so bad that everyone is lying there at the end?
Well, I think that's the purpose of that last sequence; that when you think in the possible answers it results in projecting your own fears, it makes you analyze yourself.
It's a question for the viewer: what's wrong with me? or am I so strong that I wouldn't lie down in the floor like everybody else? am I better? or am I just a commun person that works through the day, trying to make my living without allowing a time for reflection? When is the time to face these fears that have been hiding because I put three locks on the door?

The way he lies on the floor is a metaphor for giving up, stop living, not being able to continue, it's like saying "just leave me alone in my sorrow, I'm not a crazy person, on the opposite, I know too much and it makes me weak".

The video is visually appealing but also confusing on the first watch. When I first watched it, it impressed and amazed me, I remember being speechless once it was finished.

Then, in my opinion, it expands the lyrics because it shows that sudden fear...that sudden fall expressed in the song, and in addition it shows that you are not the only one suffering.

The visual atmosphere of the video implies that the people there have been living a fake world, everything has been superficial, like it shows in their business-like attire, or the main character’s fake arm when he's lying on the pavement. It gives the sensation that they have been living in a bubble suppressing reality and the alternative is to just face it and be real...be you.

    3. + Comes like a comet: it refers to something that comes suddenly, fast and at irregular intervals.
+Holy cow: used to express bewilderment, surprise, or astonishment. Is also derived from the Brahman belief that cows are holy.
+ Reel: to move from side to side as if you are going to fall while walking or standing.
+ Suckered: one who is easily deceived
+ Hanging round: it has the same meaning as “hanging around”:to wait or spend time somewhere, for no particular reason.

    1. I totally agree with how you got the song and its message. I like this song and feel glad to reed your reflection. You said things I think are important to understand from this song: for example about no one stopping to help one person; I think it’s okay trying to help sometimes, but being aware of not letting himself to be absorbed by the fallen one; this is a common error caring people commit like the video shows with the people who stop their ways and ended up laying on the floor, it takes one person feeling self pity for people to feel the right to feel that way too. One must not stop his own life for anyone, because you are the most important person in your life and no one has to do the same for you, and even if someone does it, it’s going to be useless , your own judgement is the one that hurts the most, so you are the only one who can stop the damage and help yourself. We don’t have to be so hard to ourselves, the hardest and valuable thing to do is to forgive yourself and overcome, because you must face your fears and regrets to continue, not just hanging around ignoring on porpuse and hidding from them like the people in the video. As you said it Christina, they seem to be just walking through their lives without any awareness, like the guy who got to notice the man on the floor just when he stumbled over with him, that's not really to live.

    2. Christina and Paola, this is a great song! I love Radiohead because their music is so conceptual, profound and eye-opening. "Just" is well explained by you two. The video is a good complement and it is even mysterious because you cannot know what the guy tells the people so that they also lie down on the floor with him.

1.2. The song is trying to motivate people to don't leave other manipulates them, that they have to trust in what they want to be or do with their lives, also says that we always have to reach the best of us, of our abilities and rely them. by the other hand, I think the title "Houdini" means that if you're going to fight for what you want, you should be an escape artist.

    2. The song has a catchy beat that may stuck in your head, that's why I think it is perfect to the lyrics, because even though you don't want to, at the end you're going to sing it. The video is showing the literal form of 'to be manipulated' when the artists die and the producers make of them puppets, and all that, just for money.

    3. - F For Fight: according to some people from U.S. The 'F' means 'F*ck' and it is common to scream it before you hit someone.

    - Prisoner's Riot: When the prisoners are causing a lot of trouble

    - Shackle: A ring or other fastening, as of iron, for securing the wrist, ankle, etc.

    - Rise Above: To get up after falling or being thrown down.

    - Compromise: To expose or make vulnerable to danger, suspicion, scandal, etc.

    1. Hi!
I have been listening this song for many years and as you said, seems like the lyrics was made to motivate the people to do what they want, but I never think it could be for the hard relationship between an artist and his producers or managers, so I think this is a interesting view point about the song. About the tittle of the song, Houdini was a popular ilusionist who was famous for his escape acts, comparing what you said and the meaning of the tittle I think you are right about "you should be an escape artist" but I think this also means what the artist must impact and fascinate the public in order to be famous

    2. Hello, Valentina.
First of all, good choice. Your comment about this master piece is without doubt, authentically sharp.
You aced with the purpose of the song and with brevity you exposed the key elements of which the song is composed, the topic the song deals with, the clear representation of the lyrics in the video, all of it done by your own unique style of review, your use of words is plausible. Now, as for the song itself, the lyrics are quite virtuous. if we think this song in the world in which the video represents it and also, our world, this is something common, we have seen many times stuff like this, the artists usually suffer an intense transformation through the producers and representatives who are behind the management of their talent. However, artists also have a part of themselves in what they show to the world, despite of it many of their ideas are censored and manipulated by the characters I have already mentioned. But as you said Valentina, it is all about fighting for our ideals, above the wishes of others, but beware of those words, these ideals and shades and forms to see the world should not limit the freedom or ability of others to fulfill their own in a negative way. But, at the end of the day, we all do it. We aren’t as righteous as we would like to be.
What I have just said is problematic, since our view of what is right may be wrong for another person. Anyway, what lies beyond good and evil is colossally dense.

Again, I liked your choice, I already knew this song and I’m glad to see it here.

Thank you very much for sharing your review and your good taste. Keep it up!

    PART 1:
The song is about a bar piano player and what he sees at the bar he works at, he’s respected on there and everyone that goes to the bar forget their problems when they listen to the piano, each person has a different history to tell while drinking.

    PART 2:
As the man is singing the video follows him, is a direct relation, for example, when the singer refers to the bartender you can appreciate that the expressions of the man match with the description the singer is giving and so with the other people he talks about.

    PART 3:
-“The regular crowd shuffles in”: The people (the ones that mostly goes) is going to the place
-”When I wore a younger man’s clothes”: When the guy was younger.
-”... and put bread on my jar”: To put money on the tips jar
-”Makin’ love to his tonic and gin”: The person talking to his drink about the old days.

    1. PART 4:
This song is a good classic in piano. I agree with you, I think It refers to people who are stuck in their problems and asking for the piano man to raise their spirits in order to forget their troubles wiht music. Besides, the song shows some examples about the feelings that people have to be depressed, such as: regret, loneliness and wistfulness.

I have found another expression wich is "get stone", it usually refers to being high on cannabis.

      PART 5:
The topic of the song does not differ from Colombia culture, because most people do the same thing as in the song, like trying to foget their problems with some drinks and songs.

    Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GCdwKhTtNNw
    Lyrics: http://www.metrolyrics.com/sweater-weather-lyrics-the-neighbourhood.html

"Sweater Weather" is in its own kind of way a love song. Even though it is full of clear (and not so clear) references to sex, there are expressions that can be related to feelings like passion and tenderness, and certain desire of affection, too. This desire is more notorious along the song than the others.

There is not a clear relation between the lyrics and the video of the song. There are some scenes along the video that let us know the feeling of being drifting, and we can find a few images of a couple touching, holding and caressing each other. These images give us some clues to understand that the lyrics are about love, solitude and sex, but there is not a story that emphasize what the lyrics are trying to say.

    WORDS AND EXPRESSIONS

-Sleeve: A sleeve is a part of a piece of clothing that covers some or all of the arm.
-(have one's) Head in the clouds: To be unaweare of what's going on due to daydreams or fantasies.
-Waisted: In this context, this adjective refers to the part of a piece of clothing which goes round one's waist.
-Goosebumps: It is a skin reaction to certains stimuli like cold, emotional stress and arousal.
-(to) Pour: To rain hard or heavily.

I can't really find any cultural aspect to write about in this song because it talks about something that has no much difference between Colombian and American cultures. Even though I could do some comparisons in the way people from both countries see love and sex, the song itself does not establish any difference, so I would deviate from the topic.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lyu1KKwC74
    http://www.metrolyrics.com/bitter-sweet-symphony-lyrics-the-verve.html
I think the song is about the struggles of living in a society like ours and what it takes to thrive in the world as we know it.
Even it was released in the late 90´s I like the fact that still can be apply nowadays and just by referring to a quality talks about the duality that life can have and how keeps balance in the modern days; at the same time criticized capitalism talking about the urge that some people have to make money and how we approach spirituality and romance just by using our free will.

+bittersweet- refers to something that is sour and sweet at the same time
+make ends meet-is an expression that means that your struggling to in this case find money for something you need
+cleanse-refers to move dirt from something
+let the melody shine- is an expression that means you have to let the music sound
+where the veins meet- is an expression that refers to the heart anatomically speaking
The song is a mixture of classical and rock music, it has elements that reminiscence to the epic songs that were created by famous composers even thought it was written in the 1990´s combining with rock elements like the drums to create an anthem type of song for those who feel the same, and the video matches portraying a man walking by London no caring about anything that happens around him, becoming himself foreign to the society and finding his own path.
The song can be a metaphor of Colombian culture cause talks about how the money can rule our choices and in a third world country like ours it determines the quality of life and how we project ourselves into the rest of the world.

    1. Hello Alan!
I've been loving this song since I heard it in some movie that I cannot remember now, so it was like if I had been transported to my high school years; in that time I used to act as if I was the star of the video, but in this case it went deeper, so much that I actually adopted it as a mantra.
That's why I think that in the lyrics there are something screaming that the life is beautiful, that we've not born to make money and then die, that we fritter away our short time in this world because we are worrying about material things and as you have said, that we're trying to thrive.

I also want to say that the way you discribe how the rhythm are mixed makes the song more bittersweet than I thought and it adds a delightful flavor in my ears that flows with the lyrics. I love it.

    Charmless man by Blur
    Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1a_4CN4onA

The song is a mock of what the artist, Damon Albarn, consider a "Charmless man". The video is well related and seems to make sense and support the ideas expressed by the lyrics. The mock is built not just by the lyrics and their cultural references but by the rythme and singing. Talks about the life style of a rich man and how that style does not work well because he's kind of stuck in some boredom he doesn'r want to accept and is going down. The music is loud and the rythme is funny. We can see the band playing the song while following the "Charmless man" and appearing in many moments of his routine, bothering him with the loud instruments and the make fun singing thy use to tell him abput his reality. He tries to avoid it because he already knows it and it makes him sad, fact we can see when Damon Albarn sings to him on the elevator "his days are tumbling down upon him" and the man looks at the floor for a second, showing how that truth affects him. The song goes on and the band gets to peace him off to the point he starts losing control and run untill a closed place where the band (his inminent reality) is waiting for him. The "Charmless man" looks at them with a sad and tired face and there we see how the video ends with the singer showing his smiling face, like if he were the reality the "Charmless man" faces at the end.

Some expressions and vocabulary I had to search to get the meaning of the lyrics:
    - First thing we have to know is that the songwriter, Damon Albarn, is British.
    - "He knows his Claret from a Beaujolais": Claret is how upper-class English gentlemen refers to red wine from Bordeaux. This shows a preference for this wine which is more sophisticated and expensive, rather than the Beaujolais. The "Charmless man" has learned to distinguish his preferred wine from others like the Beaujolais. It's something the video shows to us when the man brushes his teeth and washes them with wine.
    - "he'd like to have been Ronnie Kray": Ronnie Kray is one of the Kray Twins, the other one is called Reggie. They were notorious English gangsters, leaders of organised crime of London. they were violent and hard to arrest. Ronny Kray died in Broadmoor Hospital, he was deemed clinically insane. The "Charmless man" idolises Ronnie's ambitions and skills.
    - "airs those family shares": Makes reference to a common method used by the rich to hide what they hace to escape financial obligations. In this way, the "Charmless man" thinks that hidding himself will be protected and people will respect him.
    - Cross-eyed: having or showing a condition of the eyes in which one or both eyes turn in ward.
    - keen: eager; interested; esthusiastic.

I had never listened to this song, but I liked it since the moment it started. As you said, it is kind of funny and is clearly a mockery of the standard British citizen.

I noticed something interesting in the video, and that is that the singer does not look at the man until the end of the video. I think this could be a reproach, like if he couldn't stand him.
I would also like to add something to your analysis of the end of the video. I think what the singer's smile means is that the man finally understood that he can't escape from them, and since they made him go mad, he is now, in certain kind of way, one of them, and that's why the singer looks directly at him.

      Thanks for sharing!

    Lyrics: http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/eminem/singforthemoment.html
I guessed so the song is about how important is the moment of the present in the time.
    2. The video tries to show how Eminem is popular and how many fans he has despite the fact the lyrics on his songs are violent and foul-mouthed, so the lyric of this song explain his rude style to composing and writing his songs and what he wants to make feel to his fans.
    3. -Worship: Ardent admiration or love; adoration.
-Grudge: a strong feeling of anger and dislike for a person
    - Walking out: suddenly leave the partner and end the relationship
    - Pin-up: picture of a famous person
-Take away: make someone leave a place and go with you
    5. I think in U.S. the rap music is considered like something what can make a person violent and rude, in our country the people don't consider the rap and reggaeton in the same way U.S. do.

    3. 4)Hello. :)
I saw the video and I am agree with your opinión, how you say is about the present, the singer appears in the show, he lives in this moment with his song, his fans, his energy. Before I’ve heard it but I didn’t know what the lyric said, now I believe that the lyrics have subjects such as: family problems, violence on the streets, the teenager’s mentality and influence musical. I believe that he wants to show to the people his feelings, his life since years before, how a man from nothing he achieved fame and convey what he once felt and that perhaps now many of his fans are feeling the same.
I think that you canned say more about the lyric, I don’t sure but I founded this point:
      5) Eminem present the situation of a lot teenagers who are living troubles in their houses for violence, stepfathers, neglect etc. Therefore they prefer to leave to the street and here, they find urban culture in this case: rappers, this point is similar to situation of teenegers’s Colombian in popular neighborhood, who have received abuse in their home and then to find refuge in friends or urban groups such as: Metalheads, punks, “emos”, it becoming for the family and neighbours in: “BAD BOYS” for the way of dressing, talking and sometimes for actions.

    2. The video shows how a guy does everything he thinks is important to fit in or to have a good time: Taking drugs, alcohol, sleeping with women, partying, fighting and making fake friends. But at the end that does not fill him and he became the same again, but he remains in that emptiness.

    3. be high: Under the effects of psychoactive substances.

Personally I didn't think at first that the song have that message because that's a partying kind of song for me was interesting.

I also believe it is directed to young people giving the message of not following these kind of actions and attitudes. It tries to prevent people from making the same errors not only if they are becoming celebrities but also if they are usual party people. Great song :D

    video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-TE_Ys4iwM
    lyrics: http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/onedirection/storyofmylife.html

From my point of view, the song is about how hard is to end a relationship and how many times you have to go through that. "story of my life" is usually use in english to express a negative event which happens a lot to someone; so that is what they are trying to do but showing pictures of their lifes, family, friends and moments which make the song more personal.

    Part 2:
In this group members are observed to hang and reveal photographs of them with their relatives. In short, with their images each one tells their life in some way, they make it more personal. With this they show that each member has his own life, and not because they are one direction members means that they have lived the same. However, singing this song and having written it together shows that the five have gone through the same thing in love.

    Part 3:
"story of my life": as i said it before,is use in english to express a negative event which happens a lot to someone.

"written in these walls": The walls can be a metaphor for the moments that have happened in your life, the stages you have lived, where you have left those memories.

"these words will be written on my stone": The singer says that when he dies, those words will be written on his tombstone, which may be "I do not feel anything, it's not the same anymore", with this he means that they always tell him that.

    Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7PwQrEbEnrM
    Lyrics: https://genius.com/David-gilmour-the-girl-in-the-yellow-dress-lyrics

The song talks about a woman in a yellow dress dancing in a jazz club and how men look at her and marvels at the slender figure and interesting character of the girl in the yellow dress, also the song is about how she owns the place with her mere presence and how is her personality. The sax player plays a curious character in the entire video, because we could presume he likes the girl in a yellow dress in a more complicated way that just the “first sight” desire that she triggers in anyone who lays their eyes upon her “flame” figure. Watching the whole thing and paying close attention to what really composes the video remind us and how a song and a video can be indisputably attractive and of course, colossally sublime.

    Part 2:
The video matches the lyrics accurately because it illustrates in a very poetic and appropriate way every part of the song. This piece of art is very graphic and it shows how each word is represented by images tremendously allusive to what the lyrics are saying. You can feel how the song and environment created in the video wrap it all of it in a supremely pleasant way. The video, when extolling the lyrics of the song, shows what is the most convenient meaning for what is being said and it dances with our imagination showing us with their engaging forms of representation an elegant song that brings together different images in a short story about a woman in a yellow dress.
There is a certain metaphorical meaning in the images and in the lyrics, since it gives to those who listen to the song and see the video, a colorful and enjoyable idea of what is going now. It is remarkable how one thing unites the other and how it gets explained what is happening and even a little about the personality and life of the characters.

    Part 3:
1.She mesmerizes with a smile: it means that her smile has the power to hypnotize.
2.This girl gets right down in the groove: means that the girl enters into the spirit of the situation or circumstance of the moment quickly.
    3. Whirl: To rotate rapidly about a center or an axis; spin.
    4. folie à trois: A condition in which two individuals who share a close relationship experience the same delusions or hallucinations as the result of a mental disorder such as schizophrenia affecting one or both of them. Also called shared psychotic disorder.
    5. Gauloise: Gaul woman" in French ("cigarette" is feminine in French), is a brand of cigarette of French manufacture. It is produced by the company Imperial Tobacco following their acquisition of Altadis in January 2008 in most countries, but produced and sold by Reemtsma in Germany. Traditional Gauloises were short, wide, unfiltered and made with dark tobaccos from Syria and Turkey which produced a strong and distinctive aroma.

What cultural aspect can you identify from the song that you consider differs from how we think or do something in Colombian culture?

There is little difference, the subject itself can be found in both cultures. And the subject would be that this a short story about a woman who lights up the life of those men who watch her and imagine a short affair with her, also how she dances with a man while the sax player watches the entire thing. All the mystic that has the woman in her entire character captivates mostly men and her solely presence trembles the place. The aspect in which it could be noticed the difference, it would be perhaps in the form of the dress code and in the style of music, that is not a very common thing in Colombia, however there are places like this in our country, there are bars dedicated to that style of music (jazz) and there are people who enjoy that kind of atmosphere, which although different, is hugely enjoyable.

Steven’s song is of a great genre and a really good piece of art, it is, as he says, easy to understand and even more to feel related to it because, I guess, we all have seen a girl that had the power of render a place speechless at her presence only, he then makes a relation that it only came to me after reading his comment and that is the implicit connection between the sax player and the girl and the deep this small detail brought to the song, I think he did a good job of reading this , he did also mention the co-related nature of video and lyrics that is appreciable at plane sight and truly enjoyable.

    2. I liked Steven's choice, and I think his analysis was right. You can see in the song a simple, interesting, and maybe a common story. The lyrics and video are complemented to create a very pleasant audio visual experience. The connection that the saxophonist had with the girl was very interesting. And although all the men noticed her, she went with the one who saw something else in her. I had never listened to this genre, but it was quite pleasant for me and I really liked the story that tells the song. About the cultural aspect I think it is a common situation and it can happen regardless the culture.
